Emil Sitka ~

The Fourth Stooge

"The most important actor in most Stooges films, besides the Stooges themselves, was the sharp-nosed, wide-eyed Emil Sitka... His presence was such a mainstay of the operation that many thought of him as an undeclared 'fourth Stooge.'"

After Larry Fine and Moe Howard passed away and all thoughts of becoming a Stooge were put to rest, Emil found himself in demand as a representative of the team. He still acted occasionally in a movie or TV show, but the Three Stooges films were as popular as ever and fans wanted to hear from someone who actually worked with them.
He was invited to speak at screenings and conventions, and he appeared at numerous events celebrating the Stooges and their comedy. Emil helped with the effort to place a Three Stooges star on the Hollywood Walk-of-Fame and gave a speech at the dedication ceremony.
Emil also became a Stooge-history expert and gave interviews to dozens of reporters and authors. Whenever anyone had a Stooges project, whether an article, book, or video, Emil was routinely consulted for his first-hand knowledge of the famous comic trio.
This role as Three Stooges "ambassador" and advocate fit Emil well in his golden years, and he welcomed the attention and affection he received from fans worldwide.
